What were you doing out? Or was this after my sister dropped you off?

And hey, aren't you just the kind of loser who stays up computing on a friday night, or worse, goes to burger king to hang out with his girlfriend while she works for eight straight hours?

Hmmm?

I'd visit you, but I live countless miles away from you, and I can't drive. I have been sleeping a lot, actually. What kind of loser goes to bed at 10 on a Friday night? Me. I even woke up at 7 AM today, and for me, that's just absurd. I'm going to partake in the wonder of the Friday Five...after I eat breakyfast.

Ah, another night shift at Burger King...and no one here this time to make it all better. Why don't more people still live here to visit me, damn it?

Already posted this on "...you must be very bored...", but I thought, in the nature of encouraging y'all to participate, I share my friday five answers with Dysphorena. Ben, Nick, I want some interaction here! And anyone else who's been sleeping lately. Dana, Jacquie, I'm looking your way....

1. Would you say that you're good at keeping in touch with people?
You know, this is definitely an answer that applies to me really strongly one way or another, but I'm really not sure which. I guess not- when I think back on it, I tend to keep a few people in the "active" part of my brain at one time- I do everything I can for them, but I tend to forget about people in the back. I think what I'm mistaking for my alleged ability to keep in touch with people is the obscene amount of effort I put into making people who might not want to keep in touch with me want to...or trying, anyway. But that's something different altogether I guess. So, uh, no?

2. Which communication method do you usually prefer/use: e-mail, telephone, snail mail, blog comments, or meeting in person? Why?
I have a high regard for all of those methods- My relationships with Jeff and Mitch developed through e-mail, so I'm grateful for that, as well as for the four-hour long phone conversations I used to have with Kris and Jeremey in the pre-internet days, and while I've never had a pen pal, I ADORE getting real mail, so the idea of one thrills me. I met Jacquie through her blog, and she's my douche-sizzlin' sistah, but, over all, nothing beats meeting in person. Being near someone, being able to touch them, smell them, hear their voice, see their mannerisms...I met Elorza online, I talked to him on the phone after a while, he's read my blog (though never commented) and I've sent him some things, but I just saw him in person for the second time ever...let me tell you, that's a rush. He's wonderful. And being near him, as well as being near to everyone I love, is amazing. (GAH! Sooo clichéd-sounding! Please, hit me!) The method I use the most often, however, would have to be AIM...which is terribly unfortunate.

3. Do you have an instant messenger program? How many? Why/why not? How often do you use it?
Ah, and now we address it. I have AIM, I used to have ICQ and Yahoo and MSN instant messnegers as well, but when you come right down to it, everyone has aim, and if they don't, they should. I have it because it makes it easy and cheap to keep in touch with everyone who's far away- entirely too many people like that- and even people who are close, which is sort of abuse of the privelige. I also tend to like how it's the only medium in the world where you can have multiple, totally exclusive conversations at one time. Technology! Wowee! How often? I'll have to go with "nauseatingly". Less now then I used to, because the computer is currently set up in my parents room, and they're asleep at night, which used to be my key instant messaging hours, but every chance I get, so long as I'm not entertaining any guests (and even if I am, sometimes...). Soon, the computer will be moved to my room and I'll have a 24 hour connection, then you can see how sick my addiction really is...voyeur!

4. Do most of your close friends live nearby or far away?
Far the fuck away. While it was pretty even up until a month ago- I had a big group of friends in auburn, which was just too far to be close, a bunch in my home town and some spattered throughout the country in college- now they're ALL GONE. All of them went off to college, which is why now it's the Linda and Zack show! Starring Linda and Zack! Catch all the excitement and adventure of Linda and Zack in this week's episode! But, hey, there's a bright side to all of this- this severely cuts down on the chances that I'll cheat on him...uh, as long as you keep drunk strippers away from me.

5. Are you an "out of sight, out of mind" person, or do you believe that "distance makes the heart grow fonder"?
Both. I can definitely make somebody out of my sight stay out of my mind, but if I choose to think about them- and that's definitely the choice that should be made for the most part- distance can make one realize how much they're missing out on. That said, I love you Jenn, Nick, Chad, Emily, Kris, Mark, Jeff, Serena, and, uhm....etc.! If I missed you, it's not because I don't love you, it's just because I don't love you enough. :-P

Nope, sorry.

If this were another relationship- which, thankfully, it isn't- I would deduct action points now.

Ah, poor loser.

Too damned bad they aren't keeping me on the night shift....I'm liking all this internet access...

Ah vell, soon enough I shall have a cable-internet-hooked up computer in my own room...and then, I WILL RULE!

Haha, the average intelligence of a Burger King worker is getting to me- I just spelled that "ROOL!" and had to go back and change it.

1. What was/is your favorite subject in school? Why?
I miss- like hell- spending time with Mitch in business management and poetry. And I miss Miss Sutton from Poetry. But the people- other than Mitch and Ricky- made that unbearable. So I'm going to go with....gah, I don't know. Can I pick study hall? Band, when Judd was still there? Summer school, maybe?

2. Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
No one tops the Judd-master, because he was a huge part of six years of my life, and he treated us like people...yeah, did I mention I miss Judd? Then of course there's Auntie Rita, who was, well, our girl, or our "girl" anyway, and Mr. Leighton is cool shit to hang with. Then there's Mr. Hall, who made me feel special and interesting, and continues to, and Mr. Gamage, who seemed interested in who I was and where I was going, for some reason. Pre-high-school: Mrs. Deraspe will always have a special place in my heart, and I'll always have a special place in hers, I hope. And Mrs. Curtis isn't just Jo's mom, but the teacher of the year!

Of course, I wanted to bang LT, so, yeah.

3. What is your favorite memory of school?
Ever? The first snow every year, maybe, and how everyone would scramble to the windows if it happened while we were in class with them, and watching them all transform into what you saw them grow up from. Or just all of eighth grade, in general. Wow, I'm starting to miss school....I better hurray and finish this.\

4. What was your favorite recess game?
WEREWOLF! It was this whole game we made up because one day, when I was very young, I actually tried to convince my friends I was a werewolf, and after they caught onto me, we started playing a weird tag-like game, where I was ALWAYS it, and ALWAYS a werewolf. Good times. Also, the sexual experimentations of the boys-against-girls push game in seventh grade. Good year.

5. What did you hate most about school?
Ah, such a relieving question, helps me fight the nostalgia-- Waking up early, never learning much of anything, being too smart for everyone ;-), having teachers talking about me behind my back, having people tell me I was capable of more when they refused to acknowledge that I had a problem that wasn't about my academic abilities...and all sorts of shit, but I'm listening to "La Vie Boheme" right now, so let's ditch the negativity.

TO RIDING YOUR BIKE MIDDAY PAST THE THREE-PIECE SUITS....etc!

Once again, braving the night shift, this time without the help of my trusted assistant, who's presence last night made work seem like...well, work with someone there. Damn school, if not for that bane of my existance, he could be by my side once again!

Or, better yet, neither of us would have to stay here. We could move to New York and work as...well, something, anyway. And make love in cardboard boxes when it rained.

:-)
